Minimum Android requirements:
Android 2.1+

Hardware Requirements:
There are many different Android devices out there on all major cell phone companies. We understand that everyone has different budgets, but in our experience, good hardware pays for itself very quickly. Low end Android devices will have lower end hardware and components (including cameras if you plan to use the camera to capture barcodes) than their high end counterparts.

To download the FBAScout app, search for ‘FBAScout’ in the Android Marketplace or you can download it here.

To download using QR codes (the fancy black and white checkerboard thing), you need the ZXing Barcode Scanner app from the Android Marketplace. You can find it by going to the Android Marketplace on your device and searching for ‘barcode scanner’.

The icon looks like this:

Download and install it. Then open the Barcode Scanner app and hold your camera up to the code. When it registers, press Open Browser. Pretty easy!

If you want to use a Bluetooth scanner with FBAScout, you will need to download and install the SerialMagic Gears app on your device. An Android 2.1+ device is required to use a Bluetooth scanner. Details here.

Bluetooth Scanner:

Scanfob 2002™ will work with FBA Scout for Android.

FBAScout requires a data connection; either 3G or WiFi.

Registering Your FBA Scout
Open the FBAScout app. Press the Menu button on the bottom of your Android device. Then press Settings. Your Username is the email address that you used when you registered for FBA Power or FBA Scout. Your Password is your FBA Power password if you use FBA Power. If you only use FBA Scout, your password was emailed to you.

There are two additional settings: Show FBA Prices ON/OFF and Show Quantity ON/OFF

Most users will have both of these settings turned ON. These settings gather additional information. To maximize speed, they can be turned OFF. Most users find that they prefer to have complete data and that the speed is ridiculously fast with both settings ON.

More details about how Show FBA Offers ON/OFF works can be found here:

Using the Camera to Capture Barcodes:
To activate the ZXing barcode scanning app using the camera on your Android device, press the barcode icon at the top right hand corner of your screen.

Then hold the camera over the barcode so that the red line goes across the whole barcode. Once the barcode is captured, you’ll return to the FBAScout app to see the results. This can take some practice.
